Jacqueline Sheehan bases her fictional novel from experiences of her own life, although, none of the occurrences are actual happenings. From the start, Lost and Found brings a sense of suspense, intense mystery, wisdom, friendship, devotion and psychological features. After losing her husband at a young age, Rocky, a psychologist, is lost within her own self and tries to escape her pain and the rest of the world, that is, until she meets Lloyd, a black Labrador Retriever. While on the island Rocky decides to take on a sort of new identity and takes on a temporary job as the island’s dog warden, or animal control officer, so to speak. Rocky finds Lloyd on her get way island with an arrow stuck in his side. Amazing he was still alive, Rocky takes responsibility of Lloyd, and later finds the real mystery behind his heartbreaking story. Rocky eventually finds herself enlightened by the path that led her to Lloyd and the courage she never thought she had in finding the real truths of his past. Readers will learn that pain and loss can be revived with joy when they least expect it. Lost and Found is an enjoyable read for all animal lovers, as well as for those in times of grief.
