The Crack Down on Dog Fighting

Harris County District Attorney Pat Lykos announced that she has increased animal cruelty enforcement in her office. The new unit will target dog fighters and those who treat pets inhumanely. Assistant District Attorney Belinda Smith was appointed as the animal cruelty section’s chief, while another prosecutor , along with an investigator will help build cases for them. The unit announced that it would attempt to learn the identities of dogfight owners who have been dumping carcasses in a wooded area in northeast Houston. As part of the campaign, Crime Stoppers will advertise on 30 billboards providing information to the public on how they can provide anonymous tips about dog fighting.
