There’s no better time to get acquainted with your local animal shelter than now. The week of November 1-7 is National Shelter Appreciation Week. Founded in 1996 by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), this week marks a time to honor animal shelters across the U.S. An estimated 6 to 8 million homeless animals are seeking refuge each year.
