Meet the Candidates for Houston’s Mayor and City Council

On Saturday, October 3rd, Houston Animal Partnership Initiative (HAPI) will be hosting a Candidate Day at BARC (Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care).

All candidates have been invited for an informal Meet-and-Greet at Noon. Candidates will be on hand to answer questions and may also be asking questions themselves, so that they too understand the problems facing the animals of Houston.

There are no planned speeches or presentations. You are free to approach any candidate at any time and ask them questions that you want answered as not only an animal lover, but also as a voting citizen. The elected officials have a duty to improve the quality of life for the people and animals of this city. But we also have a duty to be engaged in the political process. We must identify those who will work along side us to help the animals of Houston and to cast our vote for those individuals. We must speak up and be the voice of the voiceless and develop constructive and positive relationships with city government. The thousands of homeless pets in Houston area depending on us.
